맞는듯해요 뭔가 정리가 안되면 정신도 없고 의욕도 사라지더라구요. 방정리부터 제대로 해야 겠어요 정보 감사합니다
Being in a cluttered space can cause a number of health changes without us even realizing it. What could they be?
◇Stress
Disorganized spaces are inherently stressful. A study by the University of Technology Sydney in Australia found that when people are surrounded by distractions, their concentration decreases and the mental load on their brains increases. In fact, women who perceived their homes as cluttered and untidy had higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol than those who did not.
◇Postponing important decisions
Clutter hinders decision-making. A study by Dr. Jabin Begum of Deccan University of Medical Sciences in Indonesia found that adults over 50 with clutter and disorganized rooms were more likely to postpone important decisions than those with more clutter. Clutter also negatively impacted life satisfaction.
◇Decreased concentration and memory
Cluttered surroundings can make it difficult to focus on important tasks, as multiple objects can distract you. For those with ADHD, a disorganized environment can be particularly disruptive. Clutter can also negatively impact memory. Because the brain can only process a few pieces of information at a time, too much distraction can lead to information overload and memory loss.
◇Various allergy symptoms
A cluttered room can easily accumulate dust and other allergens. Allergic reactions can lead to symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, and wheezing. In fact, a study by Indiana University found that people who kept their homes clean and organized were healthier than those who didn't.
◇Weight gain
People who have too much clutter in their rooms and struggle to keep things organized may be at increased risk of overeating and obesity. A study published in the international journal Behavior and Environment found that people in disorganized spaces eat twice as many sweets, like cookies, as a stress reliever compared to those in well-organized spaces. The problem is even more severe for those with compulsive hoarding, a condition characterized by an inability to discard items regardless of whether they are used or not.
A research team at the University of Florida analyzed 27,450 adults with compulsive hoarding disorder and found that those with the disorder weighed an average of 7kg more than those without the disorder and were twice as likely to be obese. They were also at higher risk for various chronic diseases, including diabetes and heart disease.
