Comedian Kim Young-chul (50) revealed himself drinking soy milk in the morning.

On the 4th, Kim Young-chul posted a picture of himself drinking soy milk on his Instagram with the caption, "Definitely... whether it's beans or soy milk or anything, eating something in the morning seems to make me eat less at lunch and feel more satisfied." In the photo, Kim Young-chul is preparing for his radio show while drinking soy milk. Previously, Kim Young-chul had mentioned that he is focusing on managing his throat and overall condition for his morning radio schedule. Can drinking soy milk in the morning really have health benefits?

 

First, it is better not to go through the morning on an empty stomach. Skipping breakfast can lead to maintaining a fasting state until lunch, increasing the frequency of snack intake or the likelihood of binge eating at lunch. People who skip breakfast are also more easily attracted to high-calorie foods. According to a study by the Imperial College London research team, when people who skipped breakfast were shown high-calorie foods, their brain responses were activated differently compared to when they were shown low-calorie foods. It was also confirmed that they consumed about 50 kcal more when given lunch than on days when they ate breakfast. Eating a large lunch delays dinner time, and if you go to sleep without fully digesting the food eaten late at night, it becomes difficult to have restful sleep and causes discomfort, creating a vicious cycle of skipping breakfast again. On the other hand, providing proper nutrition at breakfast helps maintain normal levels of cholesterol, blood pressure, and hormones.

The soy milk chosen by Kim Young-chul is suitable as a substitute when breakfast is difficult. First, soy milk activates diuretic action, helping to eliminate unnecessary substances from within cells. It also inhibits fatty degeneration of the liver, preventing the accumulation of cholesterol in organs and thereby preventing obesity. Soy milk is also good for preventing dementia. The component called lecithin in soy milk accounts for about 30% of the brain's water content. This supplies nutrients to the brain and serves as the raw material for acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that transmits memory and information. Therefore, drinking soy milk regularly can improve memory and concentration. Lecithin also helps prevent cardiovascular diseases. It acts as an emulsifier, mixing water and oil, and helps dissolve fats attached to the walls of blood vessels. As a result, it significantly reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as hyperlipidemia, stroke, and arteriosclerosis. However, since soy milk is made from soybeans, people with weak digestive systems should avoid consuming it too frequently, as it may cause digestive problems. The phytic acid in soy can interfere with digestion and absorption, potentially causing gas. Additionally, women should be cautious about excessive consumption of soy milk, as it can disrupt hormonal balance. It is best not to drink too much at once.
