Over three months, the group that limited 'this' more than food intake lost 2 kg more weight

A study has shown that intermittent fasting, a diet method that limits daily eating times, is more effective for weight loss than simply restricting daily calorie intake.

The research team from Bond University School of Health Sciences and Medicine in Australia analyzed the relationship between meal timing and dieting. The team divided 2,485 adults aged 18 and over into two groups: a 'calorie restriction group' and a '8-hour time-restricted eating group,' and monitored weight loss over 12 weeks. The study found that the group restricting meal times to 8 hours experienced an average weight loss of about 2 kg more than the calorie restriction group. Additionally, the waist circumference in the 8-hour time-restricted group decreased by an average of 1.1 cm more than in the calorie restriction group.

Professor Ashley, who conducted the research, said, "It is recommended not to eat after 6 to 7 PM," and added, "Eating late at night and sleeping prevents deep sleep because the body has to digest the food." He further explained, "If you don't sleep properly, the stress hormone cortisol doesn't allow you to lose weight easily and can even cause weight gain." Professor Ashley also advised, "If having an early dinner is difficult, you should reduce the portion and eat only a little later in the evening."

Intermittent fasting restricts daily food intake to within 4 to 12 hours.

Eating food for 8 hours and the rest

The 16:8 fasting method, which involves fasting for 16 hours, is popular.

However, intermittent fasting can help with weight loss, but if done incorrectly, it can become a 'double-edged sword.' If you binge eat intermittently after fasting and consume more calories than usual, it can have adverse effects, so caution is necessary.

==========

If you do intermittent fasting

I think I should choose and eat what I will eat the next day.

Since the fasting period is long, it's very easy to lead to binge eating.
