물 마신다고 피부가 좋아지는건 아니라도 하더라고요 그냥 노폐물만 배출되나봐요
I drank a lot of water hoping to keep my skin moist, but my skin remains the same and I just go to the bathroom more often. It's not just my mood that makes me think it’s ineffective. If your body already has enough moisture, drinking more water won't make your skin more moist.
Drinking water aimlessly does not make your skin more moisturized.
It is true that the habit of drinking water is related to skin health. When the body's hydration is insufficient, blood volume decreases, and blood flow to various parts of the body, including the skin, is not smooth. As a result, the lipid layer that protects the skin is not well maintained, causing moisture to escape from the skin. In such cases, drinking water to replenish hydration improves the condition of the skin.
However, it is not necessarily true that the more water you drink, the more your skin remains moist. This is especially true for people who already have sufficient hydration levels in their bodies. The water consumed is not exclusively delivered to the skin. Dr. Caroline Jacob, a plastic surgeon and dermatologist in Chicago, USA, said, "When you drink water, the fluids are first delivered to organs that need more water than the skin, such as the kidneys or brain." In fact, a review of 216 studies analyzing the impact of water intake on skin hydration found that there is little evidence to support the idea that drinking more water makes the skin more moist.
◇If you're dehydrated, you need to replenish water... but the key is moisturizer
People who are dehydrated need to drink more water. When the amount of circulating blood decreases due to lack of fluids, the function of hyaluronic acid, which maintains skin moisture and elasticity, deteriorates, causing the skin to look dull. Reduced elasticity can also increase the likelihood of wrinkles. In such cases, increasing water intake can generally improve skin conditions such as moisture and elasticity. You can tell if your body is dehydrated by pinching the back of your hand. After pinching the skin with your thumb and index finger for five seconds, measure how long it takes for the skin to return to normal. If the skin does not return to its original state within two seconds, it may be a sign of dehydration and reduced skin elasticity. Signs of dehydration also include consistently dry mouth or frequently dark-colored urine.
If your internal hydration levels are adequate, the most important thing is to apply moisturizer properly. Use moisturizers that draw water into the skin and products that form a skin barrier appropriately. Ingredients that attract moisture include hyaluronic acid, while ingredients that create a barrier to trap moisture include petroleum jelly and lanolin. After washing your face and while some water remains on your skin, apply moisturizer and barrier-forming products in sequence.
==========
Moisturizing comes before water for the skin.
For some reason, drinking water also helps keep the skin hydrated.
I thought it would become moist.
I should also drink some water and apply moisturizer.
