Metabolism refers to the process of breaking down and synthesizing the food we consume to convert it into energy, and excreting unnecessary waste products from the body. When we are young, metabolism is active, so even if we eat a lot, the risk of gaining weight is relatively low.

This is because of high calorie expenditure. However, as you age, your metabolism slows down. Therefore, even if you eat less than before, there is a high chance of weight gain.

 

To boost metabolism, get enough sleep and engage in regular strength training. Diet is also important. Based on sources such as the health and medical media 'Medical News Today,' a list of foods that increase metabolic rate has been compiled.


Chili peppers contain a secret ingredient called capsaicin that produces a spicy taste. Capsaicin stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, warming the body. Pairing with foods rich in vitamin C, such as lemon, tomato, or pumpkin, can enhance iron absorption.

 

Flaxseed helps promote metabolism and improve metabolic syndrome. This is thanks to its rich content of protein, vitamins, fiber, various antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids. Flaxseed is also effective in preventing arthritis, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and osteoporosis.

 

Coffee = Caffeine stimulates energy expenditure. In other words, metabolism becomes more active. However, be careful not to drink too much, as side effects such as sweating and a pounding heart may occur.
