Comedian Jung Hyung-don (46) has become a hot topic after losing 10kg in 7 weeks.
Today (21st), JUBIS released before-and-after photos of Jung Hyung-don’s diet.
Jung Hyung-don, who successfully lost weight, said, "It's been 7 weeks since I started managing my health, but during these two weeks, I went to Hawaii to see my wife and children, so it seems I've actually been managing for about 5 weeks," and added, "My lifestyle habits have changed a lot."
He said, "I used to sleep around 1:30 to 2 a.m., but now I don't think I go past 11 p.m.," and "Now I feel good even without taking naps during the day and I am much more active." He also mentioned, "The best part is that I reduced my blood pressure medication by one pill. After consulting with my primary doctor, I plan to cut the medication in half," sharing an update on his improved health after dieting.
Jung Hyung-don revealed that after losing 10kg, his body feels lighter and he has become more active. He said, "I didn't walk much before, but now that I feel lighter, I think I am more active. Especially these days, I am really into walking around the neighborhood." He also mentioned, "I used to only wear elastic waistband pants, but now I wear jeans that I couldn't wear before. I don't even know how long it's been," and added, "After reaching my target weight, one of my bucket list items is to scratch my own back with my own hands. It might sound strange to others, but for me, it's a romantic goal." We will take a closer look at the effects of sufficient sleep and walking that Jung Hyung-don maintained during his diet.
◇Walking helps reduce body mass index
Walking exercise helps with dieting. When you walk, sugars in the muscles and glucose in the blood are consumed as energy. When all the sugars are used up, the body burns fat for energy, resulting in a reduction of fat. In fact, as a result of a 12-week walking program conducted by the Korea National Park Service,
Walking about 12 km, 2 to 3 times a week on average, resulted in an average reduction of 0.24 kg/m² in body mass index. Walking facilitates smooth oxygen supply to the brain and improves blood flow, thereby activating brain function. In particular, walking at a brisk pace is beneficial. According to a study by the University of Sydney in Australia, people who walk at a normal speed have a 20% lower mortality rate compared to those who walk slowly, and those who walk quickly have a 24% lower mortality rate than slow walkers.
◇ Lack of sleep makes fat accumulation easier
If you do not get enough sleep, our bodies tend to change into a more fat-friendly constitution.
During sleep, the activity level of the sympathetic nervous system, which excites the body as part of the autonomic nervous system, decreases.
However, people who lack sleep do not undergo this process properly, leading to an increase in the neurotransmitter catecholamine and a rise in blood sugar. When blood sugar rises rapidly, our body excessively secretes insulin to lower it.
The problem is that excess insulin prevents fat breakdown and burning, promoting fat accumulation. Lack of sleep also raises cortisol levels, a stress hormone, which further encourages fat storage.
The appropriate amount of sleep per day is 6 to 8 hours. It is especially recommended to sleep before midnight to 2 a.m., when growth hormone secretion is at its peak. After a good night's sleep, even light stretching in the morning allows oxygen to be evenly delivered to the brain and peripheral tissues, activating the movement of muscles and internal organs, which boosts metabolism and influences calorie expenditure.
