Eating traditional holiday foods frequently... Are there changes in blood and respiratory health?

Pear cannot be missing during Chuseok. It is a representative holiday food along with apples. However, these days, many people hesitate to purchase it due to the high prices. Pears are delicious and rich in nutrients, helping with blood and respiratory health. Although they are not necessarily sweeter than other fruits, they have relatively less sourness, producing a pure and refined sweetness. Let's learn more about pears.

Which breed did I choose?... The one with lots of juice and a crisp, crunchy texture?

The pear tree is a tall tree belonging to the rose family. Its lifespan exceeds 500 years, and it can grow taller than 20 meters. The flowers bloom before the leaves appear and are white in color. In Korea, wild pears have been cultivated since before the Three Kingdoms period and are an important food used for medicinal purposes and ceremonial offerings. According to the Rural Development Administration, recently, high-quality varieties such as 'Manpungbae,' 'Hanarum,' 'Super Gold,' and 'Shinhwa' have been developed and distributed, which can be harvested during Chuseok.

The 'Noksoo' variety is a early-season variety that ripens in late August, with tender flesh and high juice content. It has a crisp and crunchy texture that is excellent. The storage period at room temperature is relatively short, about 10 days. There are various varieties such as 'Sweet Skin', 'Joy Skin', 'Yes Cool', 'Sense All', and 'Seol Won', which can be eaten with the skin on. Pears stored at room temperature tend to age quickly, losing nutrients and flavor, so it is better to keep them refrigerated.

"Why do we feel hungry after a grilled meat meal?"... Contributing to the elimination of carcinogens from the body

Cabbage is a representative alkaline food that can neutralize the body's acidity caused by consuming greasy foods such as meat. It contains a high water content of 85-88% and approximately 51 kcal per 100 grams. The main component of its calories is carbohydrates, and the sugar responsible for sweetness varies greatly depending on the variety, ranging from 10 to 13%. The protein content is about 0.3%, which is not significantly different from other fruits. It has a high dietary fiber content, which promotes bowel movements and effectively facilitates the elimination of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Eating cabbage after consuming grilled meat can help reduce carcinogens in the body.

Reasons why the stomach is used as medicine... Blood health, lung protection effects

Pears are alkaline foods rich in calcium, sodium, and potassium, with low levels of phosphorus and organic acids. Consuming pears regularly helps maintain blood neutrality and promotes health. They also contribute to alleviating asthma and hangovers. Antioxidant components such as polyphenols and flavonoids exhibit anticancer and anti-inflammatory effects. Historically, pears have been used as remedies for coughs and asthma, which have medical benefits. According to the National Cancer Information Center, quercetin helps protect the lungs from pollutants such as air pollution and fine dust, thereby preventing and inhibiting the growth of bronchial cancer.
