"Too many people have blood clots in their vessels"… What is the worst eating habit?

Sticky blood in the heat... forming clots that block brain blood vessels

If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol, you should quit smoking, which constricts blood vessels.

"Too many people have blood clots in their vessels"… What is the worst eating habit?

You need to change your high-calorie, high-fat, high-carbohydrate eating habits that increase triglycerides and cholesterol (LDL) in your blood, which can cause blood vessel blockages.

If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol, you should quit smoking, which constricts blood vessels.

Every day is a huge 'hot oven'. The Korea Meteorological Administration has been issuing heatwave warnings and alerts continuously. Many nights are disturbed by tropical nights, making it hard to sleep.

During the heatwave, you must also protect your blood vessels. Just like in winter, there are many cerebrovascular diseases in summer.

Why do blood vessels have problems in the heat? Let's learn more about strokes.

People admitted through the emergency room... "Quickly dissolving blood clots saves lives"

The Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service announced the results of the 2022 10th Acute Stroke Appropriateness Evaluation (requiring urgent treatment) for 249 general hospitals on July 31.

This is the result of a survey of people who were hospitalized through the emergency room within 7 days of experiencing symptoms of stroke (hemorrhagic stroke - ischemic stroke) from October 2022 to March of last year.

In just six months, 33,354 people visited the emergency room. This is a 6.9% increase compared to the ninth survey.

The Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service evaluated whether the hospital has the essential personnel (neurology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation medicine) and facilities (stroke intensive care unit) required for acute stroke treatment.

Six indicators were reviewed, including whether medication was administered promptly to dissolve the blood clot blocking the cerebral blood vessels and whether early rehabilitation was implemented to minimize disability.

According to the Statistics Korea 'Cause of Death Statistics' (2022), cerebrovascular diseases rank fifth after cancer (first) and heart disease (second).

Fast treatment and rehabilitation are most important.

Even after saving a life, paralysis, speech and vision impairments... "It's so frightening"

Stroke (ischemic stroke or hemorrhage), caused by blockage of brain blood vessels due to blood clots or other factors, can be life-saving but may leave significant aftereffects such as paralysis, speech and vision impairments that threaten quality of life. Vascular dementia is also a post-stroke complication, occurring in about 30% of cases. Many stroke patients are among those in their 50s and 60s, considered a relatively young age, who are hospitalized in convalescent hospitals.

There are too many people who cannot use one side of their body and find it difficult to go to the bathroom alone.

It's a really frightening disease.

Sticky blood in the heat... forming clots that block brain blood vessels

Strokes have a higher incidence not only in cold winters when blood vessels constrict but also in summer.

When excessive heat causes sweating and reduces body fluids, the blood becomes more viscous and sticky.

If blood circulation is impaired, blood pressure rises, increasing the risk of stroke.

Turning on the air conditioner can cause a sudden temperature change between indoors and outdoors, which may put stress on the heart due to shock from rapid temperature fluctuations.

At this time, the blood flow slows down and stagnates, leading to the formation of a blood clot that can block the brain blood vessels.

"People with high blood pressure, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia, do not let your guard down"... Regular vascular check-ups are necessary.

Factors that cause stroke include high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and smoking.

If you are usually asymptomatic, you may not realize that it has progressed to a stroke if you let your guard down.

If you experience severe headaches, paralysis on one side of the body, slurred speech, or vision problems, contact 119 and go directly to a hospital that can quickly dissolve blood clots.

If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia, you should quit smoking, which constricts blood vessels.

You need to change your high-calorie, high-fat, high-carbohydrate eating habits that increase triglycerides and cholesterol (LDL) in your blood, which can cause blood vessel blockages.

It is better to shift away from saturated fats (meat fat, snacks) and refined carbohydrates (white flour, white rice) and focus on a diet centered around whole grains, legumes, fish, and vegetables.

In summer, you should drink water more frequently to prevent dehydration inside the body.

It is necessary to monitor your heart and brain blood vessels while managing blood pressure and blood sugar levels regularly.
