Have you ever had to throw away tofu that spoiled quickly after opening it? It is one of the ingredients that can easily spoil once opened. With proper management, you can keep tofu fresh for a longer time. Today, I will share with you a tofu storage method that I personally tried and found to be very effective.

  1. 1. Blanching tofu in warm water
  2. Usually, when you use tofu, about half remains, and if you store it in the refrigerator, it always develops a sour smell. It's better to blanch it once in warm water before storing.

Gently blanch the tofu in water that is not too hot. After this process, you can enjoy it fresh for a longer period.

The second step is to immerse the tofu in salted water. Make sure the water covers the tofu completely. At this time, use purified water instead of tap water to keep the tofu fresh for a longer period.

Add about one small spoon of salt to approximately 300 milliliters of water and mix. Adding salt helps prevent the tofu from becoming too firm and inhibits microbial growth, helping to maintain freshness.

3. Store in the refrigerator

Afterward, close the lid and store it in the refrigerator, making sure it is not too cold. It is recommended to change the saltwater about once every two days. Storing it this way allows you to enjoy tofu for a much longer period compared to just keeping it plain.

If the tofu is close to its expiration date, store it in the freezer. When defrosting, soak it in water to thaw, then press it with your hands to remove excess moisture. If used in stews, the holes created during freezing allow the broth to seep in, making the dish even more delicious.
