Six years ago, suddenly, bugs started flying in my right eye. I was startled and asked around, and everyone said they had experienced it too and that it was a common thing.

My eyes felt very uncomfortable, so I made an appointment at the well-known Siloam Eye Clinic in my neighborhood and visited the hospital. After registering and describing my symptoms, I was assigned to a retina specialist. First, I received eye drops to dilate my pupils and waited, then I underwent basic tests in the examination room, followed by detailed pupil dilation tests in a specialized testing area.

Waiting in front of the consultation room, I entered and the doctor re-examined my eyes and explained the test results, but he didn't say a word about floaters. Instead, he mentioned there was a hole in the retina and said I needed laser surgery, so I received the laser treatment without knowing anything.

The fact I learned later is that floaters are a warning sign of retinal abnormalities, and you shouldn't ignore them. If neglected, it could lead to blindness. The laser procedure I received was to prevent the hole in my retina from enlarging by applying laser around the hole. After that, I received check-ups every three months, but now they are every six months. Still, it was a condition that could have led to blindness, but I went to an ophthalmologist quickly and met a good doctor, which helped me maintain my eye health until now.
