(Treatment Review) Review after undergoing incision and drainage for a stye under the eye
A few months ago, my eyes started hurting, and I have been experiencing persistent foreign body sensation and pain around my lower eyelids without any apparent reason, so I visited an ophthalmologist.
It felt like a stye, and I thought it would go away as pus came out over time, but it became hard, painful, and the discomfort worsened.
At the hospital, they call it a stye, and there are various types, but I...
They said it's called a stye.
I didn't know there were many types of styes, but when I got home and looked it up,
It is said that they can be classified into 'internal hordeolum' originating from the meibomian glands within the eye, 'external hordeolum' arising from the Moll's and Zeis's glands, and 'chalazion' caused by blockage of the meibomian gland opening leading to an acute inflammatory response.
I am in the third case, where even after some time, the symptoms do not improve, and the pus does not disappear, so I visited the hospital.
They said I need to undergo 'incision and drainage' to remove the inflammation after the incision.
After thoroughly disinfecting the area where the stye appeared under the eye, I incised the pus-filled area to remove the inflammation, so I received immediate treatment. Now, it has been completely cleared up and the discomfort has disappeared.
You prescribed ointments and antibiotics for inflammation, and I received a 3-day supply. I was told I don't need to visit the hospital separately.
If I had known, I would have received treatment sooner to avoid more inconvenience.
