During the two years I was preparing for the college entrance exam, I often got styes due to the excessive stress. I visited the Seongmo Eye Clinic in Bongcheon-dong, not far from where I lived at the time.

The ophthalmology clinic was a typical neighborhood clinic. It was a weekday morning, and there were a few elderly patients there, so I waited about 20 minutes before being seen. The procedure was very simple. They applied a small amount of anesthetic to my eye, flipped my eyelid over, and removed the stye. Afterward, I was given some oral medication and sent home. The stye was removed, but they said I should keep a bandage on my eye for about half a day to prevent infection.
