Do I need to undergo lung cancer screening while staying at the convalescent hospital?
My father is in a nursing hospital. When I visited this time, I saw that he had suddenly lost weight and was almost immobile. He was lying down as if he was about to pass away, which made me feel uneasy. I heard that he has been unable to eat well for several days due to coughing and choking, and that it might be a cold. However, today I received a call. The chest X-ray showed that a tumor that was there before has grown significantly, and it seems to be cancer. They asked if I want to take him to a general hospital. Since I didn't hear this directly, I'm not sure if they are telling me to take him for a precise examination or if I should decide whether to take him or not.
I'm asking because I don't know what to do.
In this case, should I go to a large hospital for a separate lung examination? Should I avoid the hassle of going back and forth to the hospital and just leave the treatment to the nursing hospital? Since you can't move on your own, I'm worried about taking you out for tests. Even if a lung cancer diagnosis is made after the examination, you're not in a condition to receive treatment or surgery, so I wonder what the point of the diagnosis is.
