A review of strict personal hygiene after contracting norovirus during the winter season
I usually don't get food poisoning easily, but I let my guard down during winter and contracted norovirus. Because I didn't properly cook oysters and other foods, I kept having diarrhea, along with headaches and a fever, and suffered quite a bit from the norovirus. There is no specific treatment for norovirus, so I am paying special attention to personal hygiene, such as thorough handwashing, and making sure to cook food thoroughly to prevent infection.
Norovirus can infect people regardless of age and is more contagious than expected, so you should not let your guard down even in winter. Norovirus remains infectious even after being heated at 60°C for 30 minutes, so extreme caution is necessary. I had mild diarrhea that lasted about three days and went to the bathroom about six times a day. Since the diarrhea continued, I considered taking anti-diarrheal medication, but I refrained because it can prevent the infected virus from being expelled from the body. I couldn't eat due to diarrhea caused by the norovirus, so I stayed hydrated with sports drinks or electrolyte drinks. Carbonated drinks and fruit juices with high sugar content can worsen norovirus symptoms, so it's better not to consume them. Even after symptoms improve, the virus remains contagious for 3 days to 2 weeks, and since it can easily spread to family members, I isolated myself. I also frequently used hand sanitizer, and since WellKips Purell hand sanitizer is effective, I continued using it even after recovering from norovirus. Its main ingredient is 70% ethanol, which is highly effective, and I made sure to rub it until completely dry for maximum effect. Additionally, I continued using BAS Bath Fruit and Vegetable Cleaner to thoroughly remove bacteria and harmful substances from food and water, as norovirus can be transmitted through contaminated food and water.
