Four reviews of hemorrhoids (hemorrhoids) bleeding and three surgeries

I will share four experiences, including feeling a painful sting when first having a bowel movement due to a wound, and having hemorrhoids (hemorrhoids) protrude outside the anus (prolapse), leading to three surgeries.

 

1️⃣ Causes of hemorrhoids

The disease called hemorrhoids (piles) is still said to have no clearly identified cause to this day.

Could it be genetic? When I was young, my grandfather would wear a traditional garment called "Hundo" and I sometimes saw bloodstains on it being washed by my grandmother or mother.

As I approached the ninth month of pregnancy, I started experiencing bleeding from the anus, and a small prolapsed hemorrhoid (hemorrhoid tissue) the size of a bean protruded outside the anus.

At first, it felt painful, but as time went on, the pain disappeared, and sometimes stool would lightly stain the underwear after bowel movements, along with a feeling that the anus is open.

36 years ago, I was too embarrassed about hemorrhoids to talk about them like I do now, so I neglected them even more.

I did not sit for a long time during bowel movements, nor did I smoke or drink alcohol, but I worsened hemorrhoids (hemorrhoids).

Could it be because the pelvic blood circulation was not smooth during pregnancy...

2️⃣ [First Strange House Call Doctor's Procedure]

About six months after giving birth, my grandfather brought in a visiting doctor, and my grandfather, brother-in-law, and I, these three people, received treatment from the visiting doctor. The doctor explained that it was a non-surgical method involving injecting a mysterious liquid into hemorrhoids, which would then dry up and fall off, and so we all underwent this procedure.

It was 35 years ago, so hospital surgeries were not widely accepted and were kept secret due to shame.

 

During the first round, the treatment by the house call doctor slightly reduced the size, but it did not have a significant effect over time.

Six years later, after giving birth to my second child, a hemorrhoid about the size of a golf ball prolapsed again, but I didn't feel any pain. I worked at a desk and sat for long periods without experiencing any pain or bleeding, so I think I neglected it for many years.

 

3️⃣ [Diagnosis and Surgery at Secondary Medical Clinics]

My coworker sister had hemorrhoid surgery and said she's so happy because the pain is gone.

I also took a leave of absence immediately and had surgery at the same hospital.

After visiting the hospital, I underwent a questionnaire, visual inspection, and rectal finger examination, and I was informed about the surgery date and surgery time.

 

Discharge after surgery

After two cesarean sections, on the third surgery table, my body trembled involuntarily.

The nurse came in and put on the headphones, and calming music played. My lower body was numb due to local anesthesia, so it didn't feel like my own.

And then I could sense the movements of the nearby doctors and nurses.

After the second song finished, they said everything was over.

Then he lifted his upper body and showed me the hemorrhoids that had been removed through surgery. I thought only one hemorrhoid was present, but he had removed several.

He was discharged after moving to a general ward and staying for only 5 days.

4️⃣ [Complete recovery after surgery at the 3rd specialized anal hospital]

Hemorrhoids can be completely cured with the appropriate treatment... Could it be because I didn't do warm sitz baths after the surgery?

I thought I was fully recovered from the procedure and surgery, and was free from hemorrhoids after two treatments, but about two years after the surgery, I experienced prolapse again.

I visited a specialized anal hospital again, underwent a medical interview, visual inspection, and digital rectal examination, and received surgery information.

The hemorrhoids of the anal canal were explained with sclerotherapy, rubber band ligation, and laser treatment.

I have a prolapse, so I needed to undergo surgical hemorrhoidectomy.

They gave a detailed explanation, possibly because it is a specialized hospital for anal conditions.

Just like during the second procedure, after local anesthesia, the headphones and the second song finished, and the surgery was over.

During that time, whether due to technological advancements or because it was a specialized hospital, I stayed hospitalized for a day. To minimize my time off, I had surgery on Friday afternoon and was discharged on Saturday afternoon.

Is this finally the right treatment method for hemorrhoids? 100% cure, I am truly free from hemorrhoids now.

I have been living with hemorrhoids for 20 years and have undergone three surgeries, with 14 years having passed since the last one. I heard that hemorrhoids in people over 50 can be associated with colon or rectal cancer, but since there are no symptoms during colonoscopy, I guess I am free from those concerns.

I should have gone to a specialized anal hospital from the beginning 😭
