According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and others, the specific effects of exercise on preventing colorectal cancer are clearly stated. In the case of rectal cancer, engaging in physical activity for more than one hour a day reduces the risk of developing the disease by approximately 43%.

 

For this purpose, moderate to high-intensity physical activity is known to be more effective than low-intensity physical activity. Low-intensity physical activity includes yoga, household chores such as cleaning and laundry, and walking, while moderate-intensity physical activity includes cycling, weight training, jogging, and hiking. High-intensity physical activity includes aerobics, soccer, tennis, and swimming.

 

The principle by which exercise prevents cancer is that it blocks the formation of cancer cells through the prevention of obesity, reduction of insulin resistance, antioxidant effects, improvement of immune function, and reduction of insulin-like growth factor (IGF). In the case of colorectal cancer, it also has the function of activating colonic peristalsis to shorten the retention time of highly toxic digested food in the intestines.

According to HealthDay, to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, you must increase your intake of five foods: vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and fiber-rich fruits. .

 

Experts say, “Vegetables contain cancer-preventing nutrients such as carotenoids and flavonoids, and are rich in fiber, which limits the time stool wastes in the large intestine, thereby reducing the risk of cancer,” adding that “you should consume colorful vegetables with every meal.”

 

Whole-grain foods are rich in fiber, not just vegetables. When buying bread and cereal, you should choose products containing whole grains.
