Review of treatment at Hanmaeum Hospital after diagnosis of reflux esophagitis

Last year, during a health checkup at Hanmaeum Hospital, I underwent my first-ever upper endoscopy and was diagnosed with reflux esophagitis.

At that time, I occasionally felt a burning sensation in my stomach, but there were no other symptoms, so I was quite surprised to hear it was reflux esophagitis.

I am attaching a photo of the health checkup result notification from that time, which kindly explains reflux esophagitis.

One of my truly unchangeable bad habits is eating food quickly.

I suspect that it may have been caused by reflux esophagitis.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially acid reflux esophagitis, occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing symptoms such as heartburn, chest tightness, indigestion, and a sensation of a foreign object stuck in the throat. In my case, it was not severe, and I was prescribed simple medication and advised to pay attention to maintaining stomach health in the future.

When someone says their stomach isn't feeling well, the first food that comes to mind is cabbage, which is known to be good for the stomach. I also ordered and ate some.

Honestly, original cabbage juice tastes so bad that I recommend buying mixed versions with other foods like apples or broccoli, as they are easier to drink. I initially bought the original cabbage juice and almost got turned off from cabbage juice altogether. The mixed versions I bought later went down much more smoothly without much resistance.

Since cabbage is said to be so good for stomach health, I recommend that you include it regularly in your diet.

When I don't feel well, I take a digestive medicine called Cabbage-based, which is called Cabezine.

Personally, I find it difficult to change my habit of enjoying spicy foods and eating quickly.

Of course, if I had suffered greatly from symptoms of acid reflux, I would have been more alert, but since I didn't experience much discomfort, I think I was more complacent. I should have taken better care of my health in such situations, but I was foolish.

Because I went back to the hospital the following year to receive treatment for stomach ulcer symptoms.

I think early management is important in everything. I personally learned a big lesson.

These days, I try to remind myself every time I eat that I should avoid spicy foods and eat slowly, chewing thoroughly. Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a condition caused by poor eating habits, so correcting lifestyle habits is very important.

First, avoid overeating and late-night snacks. Never lie down immediately after a meal. Foods to avoid include alcohol, caffeine, greasy foods, sour fruit juices, and carbonated drinks. If you are obese, you need to lose weight, and crouching down increases intra-abdominal pressure, which is not good for gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is usually a chronic condition that often recurs because lifestyle habits are not changed. Many cases, like mine, are thought to be minor but can develop into stomach ulcers. Additionally, if GERD persists over a long period, it can cause esophageal strictures, and if the stricture becomes severe, making it difficult to swallow food, surgery such as esophageal dilation may be necessary. Therefore, even though GERD is common, it should not be ignored.

They say that trying to stop with a sickle is like trying to stop with phlegm. I believe that for any disease, it is very important to prevent it through early management before it becomes serious, and to treat and cure it properly at the early stage.

I hope you take good care of your health before everyone gets sick and stay healthy.

    전엔 빨리 먹지 않았는데 코로나때 빨리 먹고 마스크 쓰려고 서두르다보니 버릇이 되어버렸네요;;
