A review of early symptoms of colon cancer diagnosed through health screening and successfully cured
I feel that there is a slight genetic predisposition related to cancer in my family, specifically colorectal cancer. Many relatives, such as my great-uncle and cousin, have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer or polyps. Recently, I was worried about my parents who have been experiencing various issues with constipation, so I suggested they get a health checkup. Fortunately, it was detected early, and they were able to receive treatment.
Our colon is structured like this.. I heard that symptoms also vary depending on where the cancer develops. I learned this after it was discovered at the hospital.. The place where my parents were diagnosed with colon cancer is the descending colon (left colon), so they experienced constipation, felt generally bloated, and sometimes had bloody stool mixed with blood. But this area is really dangerous.. When colon cancer progresses, bowel obstruction often occurs here.. The passage of stool gets blocked, causing the colon to swell, and if it ruptures, the cancer can spread to other areas, leading to severe pain.
Fortunately, there is a genetic factor as well, so it was really fortunate that it was discovered quickly.
Usually, when I recommended a health checkup, my parents would just think it's constipation or nothing serious and brush it off. But I wonder if they sensed something was wrong... Thanks to my great-uncle who had colon cancer and suggested that considering our family history, it might be a good idea to just get checked once, my mother was persuaded. Thanks to that, my mother benefited from it, haha.
When you heard that colon cancer had been discovered, you seemed quite calm, but since there were no prominent symptoms yet and you came early, hearing that the colon cancer could be treated relatively easily, I remember you crying for quite a while afterward.
After receiving good treatment, recovering, and being discharged, the doctor told us that exercising happily with family and eating less greasy food can help prevent recurrence. Since there is a family history, he also advised that others should definitely get a colonoscopy for colon cancer prevention if they notice any abnormalities. Haha, maybe because of that, my sister and brother, who usually lie down all the time, are now saying they need to exercise and are pulling our father (?) who is lying on the sofa. My mother still finds intense exercise difficult, so she’s not doing that yet, haha.
It would be great if we could regularly undergo health check-ups, exercise, and maintain an appropriate weight to prevent colon cancer.
I also need to be careful about colon cancer.. because family history is said to be an unignorable cause.
