I have experienced that norovirus is truly a frightening disease.I first realized how frightening a disease norovirus can be. Around this time last year, I contracted norovirus gastroenteritis, received an IV drip, and as a result, I suffered for about ten days without being able to eat.

My weight decreased by 4 kg in just a few days.

On the occasion of my birthday, I went to a sashimi restaurant with my family.

It was a well-known restaurant, so I felt safe and had a meal there. Before the sashimi was served, they set out side dishes and seafood, and my favorite raw oysters were included.

That day, the protagonist prayed, and since I really like oysters, the oysters of that day became mine.

It feels like several hours have passed since I finished my meal and came home, but I started experiencing severe stomach pain and nausea, followed by vomiting, and I threw up everything.

Next, I have diarrhea again, flowing like water.

I couldn't come out of the bathroom at all.

Even if I wanted to go to the hospital, the vomiting and diarrhea are so severe that I couldn't bring myself to leave the bathroom in that state.

After pouring up and down for a while, I calmed down.

I finally went to Sangju St. Mary's Hospital, where I work.

The doctor carefully and thoroughly examined me along with the medical interview.

I heard that gastroenteritis caused by norovirus has occurred.

Actually, in cases like this, it's easy to receive unnecessary treatment at the hospital, but there was none of that at all. The doctor reassured me that I would be okay after treatment, along with abdominal palpation and an IV prescription, which was very touching and comforting for me.

These days, there is no skill but only medical expertise, and I am so grateful for a warm word that understands the hearts of people who are in pain.

Fortunately, none of the other family members showed these symptoms, and since only I experienced them, they said it seems that the cause is oysters.

Due to severe diarrhea and vomiting causing dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, a recommendation was made for an IV drip, and two types of medication were mixed into the IV, so ultimately the patient received the IV infusion.

Since then, although the frequency decreased over a few days, the diarrhea continued, and I lost my appetite. I suffered for several days with muscle pain that made every joint in my body ache and endured a lot of hardship.

 

Here are a few foods I recommend when you're suffering from norovirus to help you recover.

Porridge made with peeled mung beans (8 parts rice, 2 parts mung beans)

Mung beans improve organ function through their antipyretic and detoxifying effects.

Green mung beans have a cold nature, so it's not good to consume them in large quantities.

Finely chopped cabbage with stir-fried mashed tofu (lightly seasoned with salt and pepper, no cooking oil)

Mix a tablespoon of plum extract with warm water and drink.

I often drink Pocari Sweat.

 

This is my personal experience with norovirus gastroenteritis. I think it would be helpful for everyone to be cautious, so I am sharing some information about norovirus.

 

Cause of Norovirus

Consumption of contaminated food: Eating seafood contaminated with norovirus, such as raw oysters or shellfish.

Contact with the infected person: through the infected person's contaminated hands.

Contaminated water: drinking contaminated water or washing with contaminated water

During food intake.

Public places: through contaminated handles or door knobs.

 

Symptoms of Norovirus

Norovirus is a virus that causes acute gastroenteritis, and its characteristic symptoms are as follows.

Vomiting and watery diarrhea like water.

Abdominal cramps or pain.

Fever, severe fatigue, and weakness

Headache and generalized muscle pain

 

Norovirus treatment methods

Fluid replenishment to prevent dehydration caused by vomiting and diarrhea

Maintain electrolyte balance with electrolyte drinks or IV fluids.

Adequate rest

Meal regulation (avoid greasy and spicy foods, and consume easily digestible foods)

Use of medication - Take as prescribed by a doctor as needed

 

Foods to be cautious about

Raw oysters (safe to eat when blanched for 10-20 seconds)

Fish sashimi, shellfish, and other seafood

Unsanitary food preparation

Raw meat (beef, pork, chicken should be cooked before consumption)

Salad (made with contaminated vegetables that have lost freshness)

Contaminated water (cooking food with clean water and consuming boiled water)

Norovirus can be prevented through thorough hygiene management and proper food preparation methods. Avoid foods that require caution, and if exposed to the illness, appropriate treatment and management are necessary.     저희 신랑도 예전에 회사 워크샵에 가서 해산물 먹고는 노로바이러스로 식중독 걸려서 엄청 고생했었어요. 정말 여름철은 음식조심해야한답니다.

      전 그때 이후로 해산물과 회를 안먹어요.
      그때 너무 힘들었던 기억들 때문에 꺼려 지드라구요. 
      나이가 들어가니 건강에 이상이 생기면
      회복 하기가 힘이 드는것 같습니다.
      그저 뭐든 예방하고 조심 하는게 좋을거 같아요.
