Things to observe from symptom relief to temporary treatment of 'gastritis'
[Three-line summary]
There is a family history related to the stomach at home.
I tried to be careful as I got older, but I have been suffering from chronic gastritis for over 10 years since my twenties.
Especially as I reached my 40s, my symptoms worsened to the point where hospital treatment was necessary, but with appropriate medication and improved eating habits, many of the symptoms have been alleviated.
I undergo a regular health checkup once a year at my company, and I always make sure to include a sleep endoscopy.
The severity of chronic gastritis has been present since my 30s and gradually worsened, leading to stomach ulcers by my 40s.
Actually, the fundamental cause lies in the Helicobacter pylori bacteria, which is why short-term, medium-term, and long-term treatments were combined.
First, for short-term treatment, I took the stomach medicine prescribed by the hospital, and I was prescribed "K-Cap Tablets," which are effective in suppressing stomach acid. Since it is a highly effective medication, in most cases, many symptoms of gastritis improved with just this medication.
However, in order to address the root cause more effectively, I also underwent eradication treatment for Helicobacter pylori.
It is a common bacteria that about half of Koreans have, but for people like me with a weak stomach, it is a troublesome pathogen that constantly causes gastritis, stomach ulcers, and even stomach cancer.
There are a total of three stages of medication available at the hospital, and fortunately, it was confirmed as sterile during the second stage of treatment.
However, since recurrence is always possible, maintaining a cautious lifestyle is important.
So, as a more long-term goal, I am practicing a few things to prevent gastritis.
I can't always follow everything perfectly, but I still try to follow them as much as possible.
Firstly, late-night snacking and alcohol consumption are truly the worst lifestyle habits for gastritis.
Because my stomach suddenly worsened after living with this lifestyle pattern when I was young, I try to avoid this at all costs.
And I am trying to increase my intake of cabbage in my usual diet.
Cabbage is widely known on the internet as a vegetable that is especially good for gastritis. In fact, eating it regularly can definitely help reduce the burden on the body.
If you leave gastritis untreated, it can lead to more serious problems, so I strongly recommend early treatment and prevention for those of us with weak stomachs like myself.
