"Too many people have damaged livers"... What are the risks of sexual contact and tattoos?

How does liver cancer develop? ... 72% from hepatitis B, 12% from hepatitis C, 9% from alcohol.

Many people still believe that liver cancer is caused by alcohol. However, alcohol accounts for only 9% of liver cancer causes. According to data from the Korean Liver Cancer Association, 72% of liver cancer patients are affected by hepatitis B virus, and 12% by hepatitis C virus. Before hepatitis B vaccination became mandatory, many people over their 40s had not developed antibodies. Although there is no vaccine for hepatitis C yet, there are treatments available, making early detection very important. Conditions such as cirrhosis, alcoholic liver disease, and fatty liver disease related to obesity or diabetes increase the risk of liver cancer.

How is hepatitis C transmitted without a vaccine?... It can also be spread through sexual contact, tattoos, and piercings.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, hepatitis C is transmitted through blood or bodily fluids. Reusing needles, receiving blood transfusions or organ transplants from infected donors, and vertical transmission from an infected mother to her child during childbirth are common routes. It can also be transmitted through bodily fluids during sexual contact. It is known that hepatitis C can spread through activities such as tattooing or piercing. However, hepatitis C is not transmitted through everyday contact such as eating, hugging, handshakes, or through coughing.

70-80% are asymptomatic... but they can still transmit to others.

In cases of acute hepatitis C, symptoms do not appear in 70-80% of cases. However, it can still be transmitted to others. It is very dangerous because the infected person may unknowingly spread the virus around them. Symptoms range from mild to severe. The main symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, dark-colored urine, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, joint pain, and jaundice. Early detection of symptoms and prompt treatment are essential to prevent the condition from worsening into liver cancer.

What is the first step to prevent liver cancer?... Safe sexual activity and caution against non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Hepatitis B and C viruses exist in bodily fluids such as blood, saliva, and semen. If these fluids enter the body through damaged mucous membranes, infection can occur. Safe sexual practices are important. Recent research has revealed that obesity increases the risk of developing liver cancer. Therefore, to prevent liver cancer, it is advisable to control weight through a healthy diet and exercise. Even without drinking alcohol, fatty liver disease can develop solely due to obesity. Persistent obesity increases the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. Paying attention to your body can help prevent cancer.
