My son suddenly has a pain in his side~~
My middle school son had been complaining of a pain in his side for a few days, but because it was exam period, I kept putting it off until I finally went to the hospital.
I figured it must be because he's a bit sensitive during exam period, so I wondered if he really needed to take medicine. I held out for three days, but now my side hurts so much just walking, so yesterday, after rushing home from his exams, I took him to Yonsei Jeil Internal Medicine Clinic.
There were a lot of patients waiting that day too, but I checked in right after lunch and was treated faster than expected.
The director examined the child directly, asking him various questions.
How long have you been sick? It's been about three days.
So, is the pain the same now as it was then, or is it worse? It hurts more than before.
Which side hurts? It's on the inside of my left rib.
Does it hurt when you breathe? No, it hurts when you walk.
After completing the medical examination, the doctor laid the child down on the bed and pressed the child's stomach again to examine him.
You carefully and slowly pressed on the child's stomach from the right side and checked again to see which part was painful.
The examination results showed no major abnormalities, but the doctor said that adolescent children may experience pain due to the diaphragm being pressed against the organs.
So, just in case, he suggested that we take an X-ray to check if the organs were swollen.
Fortunately, the X-ray results showed no abnormalities. Phew, thank goodness~
The doctor smiled and said that there was nothing serious wrong, but that the muscle pain could have been from the exercise that children in their growing years do not do, or that the pain could have been due to stress from the exam period, and prescribed painkillers and digestive medicine.
If the child says that it hurts more, it would be a good idea to get an ultrasound to check if the gallbladder is swollen.
My son said that the pain went down a bit after taking medicine for lunch yesterday, so I gave him another medicine before he went to bed after he came back from the library.
When I asked my mom how she was feeling this morning, she said she didn't feel as sore as yesterday.
Today is the last day of the exam, and after taking the exam, he went out to the playground with a basketball.
He was groaning in pain just from walking hahaha
I'm getting better after taking painkillers and digestive medicine.
I think I was stressed out because of the exam.
The doctor said not to worry while getting dressed, and I think I really don't have to worry. Hahaha
Still, I think we should keep an eye on it for about 3 days just in case.
