My son suddenly has a side ache~~
My second-year middle school son has been complaining of side pain for a few days, but since it was exam period, we kept postponing and finally visited the hospital.
Since it's exam season, I thought maybe he's just a bit sensitive and wondered if he really needed to take medication. I thought about it alone and endured for three days, but now his side hurts so much just from walking that yesterday, after finishing his exam, I hurriedly took my son to Yonsei First Clinic.
There were many waiting patients that day as well, but I registered immediately after lunch and saw the doctor sooner than expected.
The director personally asked the child various questions during the medical interview.
When did you start feeling sick? It's been about three days since I started feeling unwell.
So, is the pain the same as back then and now, or is it more painful? It hurts more than the first time.
Which side hurts? The inside of my left rib hurts.
Does it hurt when you breathe? No, it hurts when I walk.
After completing the medical interview, the doctor laid the child on the bed and carefully pressed on the abdomen again to examine.
Carefully and slowly press on the right side of the abdomen and then recheck which part hurts the child.
There are no significant abnormal findings in the medical history, but it was mentioned that adolescents may experience pain due to the diaphragm pressing on the organs.
So, just in case, they suggested taking an X-ray to check if the organs are swollen.
Fortunately, there were no abnormalities in the X-ray results. Phew, I'm relieved~
The doctor also smiled gently and said there are no major issues, but since the child is in a growth period, the muscle pain could be due to exercising in ways they haven't before, or it could be stress-related from exam season. He prescribed painkillers and gastrointestinal medication.
If the child says they are feeling worse, it would be good to perform an ultrasound at that time to check if the gallbladder is swollen.
Yesterday, after taking the medication at lunch, the pain slightly subsided, so I gave my son, who had just returned from the library, another dose before he went to bed.
When I asked how she was this morning, she said she was not as sore as yesterday.
Today is the last day of exams, and after taking the test, they went out to the playground holding basketballs.
You kept complaining that it hurt just from walking, haha.
I'm feeling better after taking painkillers and gastrointestinal medication.
I think I was stressed out because of the exam.
The doctor said not to worry while changing clothes, so I think I really don't need to worry. Haha
Still, just in case, I think we should keep a close watch for about three days.
