From self-treatment to surgery, an honest record
What is Chiru?
Chiru suddenly came one day...
They say that there are actually a lot of people with anal diseases who just don't (can't) open up to others?
There aren't many people around me who know about my health.
I'm going to write down my honest treatment record of my fistula, which started with self-treatment with ointment and ended up with surgery, although it's embarrassing.
First of all, piles, hemorrhoids, and fissures are all collectively called hemorrhoids.
To be exact, it is a disease called anal abscess, and since this disease often develops into a fistula, surgical treatment is necessary.
A fistula is a hole that develops from the inside of the anal gland to the outside of the skin, causing pus or discharge.
I don't usually have irritable bowel syndrome, I only get enteritis once in a while and it never relapses, and I don't have constipation, but I suddenly got hemorrhoids.
I thought it was a bit strange, but then one day I suddenly saw blood and started searching because I was worried๐ฑ๐ฑ
Self-healing treatment
These two are so famous that I think anyone with anal problems has probably tried them at least once.
Unfortunately, those ointments didn't work for me at all.
Those who were able to treat their boils with ointment alone are truly blessed....
I wanted to avoid surgery, so I tried all the self-treatment methods, including oral medication and sitz baths, but nothing got better, so I ended up going to an orthopedic surgeon.
Visit to the orthopedic department
Since the surgery was not difficult, I just went to the hospital closest to my house.
The diagnosis process was really, really painful ใ
ใ
As soon as I saw him at the hospital, they told me that I absolutely had to have surgery.
I said okay, and since I would have to rest for at least a week after the surgery, I checked my vacation schedule, made an appointment over the phone, and went back to the hospital.
First, we took an X-ray, drew blood, did a urine test, and did an electrocardiogram.
I eat dinner around 5pm the day before and take a bowel movement medicine around 6pm.
The bowel movement medication was very effective. I mean, it was painful.
โ On the day of surgery
That day, they gave me an IV because I hadn't eaten. They said I wouldn't need it after the surgery.
I was in the hospital room and had my blood pressure measured before the surgery. From that moment on, my heart started pounding and I was so nervous.
For your information, I was told that the surgery may take some time (approximately 30 to 60 minutes).
I just told him to let me sleep.
Spinal anesthesia wasn't as painful as I thought.
Just got acupuncture on my lower back at a Korean medicine clinic? But my spine wasn't visible, so I had it done three times.
After that, he gave me a sleep-inducing injectionโฆ
As soon as I heard the words, "Are you feeling better?", I fell asleep, and when I opened my eyes, the surgery was over.
Anesthesia completely erases your memory!
โ
After being moved to the hospital room, I was given instructions.
They recommended lying down looking at the ceiling for four hours, and then they said it was okay to lie on your side after that.
And as the anesthesia wears off, the extreme pain begins ๐ญ๐ซ
I felt a burning, bitter sensation, as if I was on fire.
Even though I got a painkiller injection, it was really painful. It was a pain I can't describe.
I asked if I could get a stronger painkiller, but the hospital said that anal injections don't work right away, so I had no choice but to endure it...
Plus, I felt a foreign body sensation from the large gauze in my anus, which was really uncomfortable.
About 6-7 hours after the surgery, I started to feel less pain and the gauze was removed, so I finally felt a little more comfortable.
However, it hurts a lot when removing the gauze.... But it feels good after removing it.
I think it hurt more because of the gauze.
I was so nervous that day that I couldn't sleep at all.
I stayed up all night and was discharged the next day.
Hemorrhoid surgery usually involves discharge within 1 night or 2 days or on the same day. I was discharged the next day.
โ
Discharge after surgery
After discharge, you will receive a management guide and be discharged with the painkiller attached to your wrist.
At first I thought I could be discharged with this... but it seems like that's how it is for everyone.
When the pain gets worse, you can press the green button to get more pain medication.
So I hung it on the nightstand at home and just lay there.
After being discharged from the hospital, the most important thing is to rest.
I had surgery the weekend before and rested well at home.
Anyway, it's difficult to go out. I have to take a sitz bath.
(It is recommended to prepare and use a donut pillow in advance before surgery)
Treatment for piles doesn't end after surgery! Sitz baths are really, really important!!
You must take a sitz bath every single day!
No toilet paper or bidet, just wash with running shower water and then wipe with a wet tissue.
The sitz bath isn't that important at this point. Of course, there are expensive, high-end sitz baths out there, but what's more important is how well you sitz bathe.
I did it three times a day with lukewarm water.
Daily life after surgery
It was definitely difficult for about a week after the surgery. I also had some difficulty with my daily life.
It was hard even if I rested at home, so I think it would have been really hard if I had gone to work.
At this time, going to the bathroom itself is stressful and tense, and it takes a long time to clean up after going to the bathroom, so those who are about to have surgery must rest at home.
In my case, the pain went away after about 3 or 4 days after the surgery.
At this time, as new skin grew, there was also a slight ticklish feeling.
So, I had to rest for at least a week for the itchiness to go away and I could live comfortably.
And it takes about two weeks for you to say, "Oh, it's okay now!" because there will be discharge ^^;
So, if you are about to have surgery, don't overdo it for at least 1-2 weeks.
It's been a long time since the surgery, so I'm feeling perfectly fine now~!
I was really scared because it was a sudden illness, and I really didn't want to have surgery, but now that I'm feeling better after the surgery, I think it was a good decision...
However, hemorrhoid surgery results vary greatly from person to person, so many people suffer even after the surgery.
I never want to experience that pain again, so I don't eat spicy food anymore, and even if there's nothing wrong with my body, I sometimes take care of it with a sitz bath.
I know that unlike hemorrhoids or fissures, treatment for hemorrhoids requires surgery rather than medication.
So, if you think you have a boil, I recommend that you don't treat it yourself with ointment like I did, but just go to the hospital right away!!
