I would like to share my experiences with frequent lip herpes outbreaks and my efforts to prevent recurrences.
Herpes on the lips is one of the most common diseases, with countless people experiencing it. I also suffer from lip herpes whenever my immunity drops. I would like to share my method of overcoming these herpes recurrences.
Herpes is an infectious disease also known as simple herpes. It is a disease caused by a virus that infects the skin and mucous membranes, leading to blisters. Type 1 mainly occurs above the waist, while Type 2 occurs in the genital area.
Infection occurs when body fluids or physical contact with an infected person occurs. Once infected, the virus remains in the body and stays dormant, reactivating and causing symptoms when our immune system is weakened.
The most common type of herpes is oral herpes. It occurs most frequently at the boundary between the lips and skin and also often appears on the oral mucosa. Before blisters form, you may experience pain, itching, and a burning sensation, and afterwards, you might notice blisters forming over several days. Fortunately, oral herpes usually fully heals within about a week to ten days.
Although this is a viral disease that recovers over time, frequent recurrences can also be stressful. I experienced that myself. Whenever I felt tired, cold sores would inevitably appear and torment me. When I had frequent episodes of oral herpes, it was during a period when I was dieting often. Repeatedly engaging in extreme dieting seemed to have overwhelmed my body. Even just a little tiredness would cause blisters to form on my lips. It was so difficult that I started focusing on boosting my immunity afterward.
The main method I have tried to prevent the recurrence of lip herpes is taking high-dose vitamin C.
I used to do megadoses of powdered vitamin C, but these days I am doing megadoses with pills. Megadosing means taking vitamin C in high doses, and opinions vary on this, but based on my experience over several years, I conclude that it is very good for immunity. Those who practice it will probably agree. Vitamin C is a representative antioxidant, and high-dose vitamin C is even prescribed via intravenous injection for cancer patients because it greatly enhances immunity.
The biggest change since practicing Megadosis is that I don't get colds easily. I also passed through COVID-19 asymptomatically.
Vitamin C is water-soluble, so even when taken in high doses, it is excreted through urine, making it safe. The formation of urinary stones as a side effect of high-dose intake can also be prevented by drinking plenty of water, which is a method I personally recommend. Of course, it is important to carefully consider whether this is suitable for your current health and constitution.
These days, cold sores on the lips occur infrequently, about once every 1 or 2 years, but when they do appear, I recommend using Esrovan ointment. It helps to soothe them quickly. Having a tube at home is a useful remedy.
I hope everyone takes good care of their immunity and stays healthy. Here, I shared my experience with lip herpes and methods to prevent recurrence.
