Sharing the self-treatment process for corns and my three personal prevention methods

I recently developed a corn, but I didn't realize it was a corn and left it untreated, which led me to visit an orthopedic surgeon and end up with other health issues.

So I went to the hospital and immediately treated the wart myself. And to prevent the wart from forming again, I...

I am sharing my study tips and three personal prevention methods, hoping they will be of great help to everyone^^

And I have a corn on my foot, so the photo isn't very pretty ^^;; Thank you for your understanding.

Since the beginning of this year, I have felt a scab-like thing on the area of my left little toe, but I haven't been able to remove it.

So I just left it, thinking it would fall off on its own later. But even after some time had passed, it didn't fall off.

When I pressed it little by little, I felt some pain. So I thought it was a corn and just left it alone.

As the pain gradually worsened, I started walking by avoiding putting pressure on my big toe and stepping more with the other parts of my foot.

I thought I had to go to the hospital to get the corn removed. If I had known it could be removed so easily then, I would have done it sooner...

Anyway, I was going about my day when suddenly I got off the bus in the evening and felt pain in the front of my left foot's heel, so I couldn't walk properly... So I wondered if I would be okay the next morning, and although it was better than the evening, it still hurt.

I went to work, scheduled a hospital appointment, and planned to go in the afternoon, but I was relieved that I didn't feel any pain from the afternoon onward.

I went to the hospital with the mindset that I needed to find out what the cause was.

The doctor took an X-ray and said I have metatarsal pain and advised me not to walk much. ㅠ.ㅠ

However, they said there is a high possibility that the metatarsal pain was caused by a corn...

So, I hurriedly searched the internet and started the wart removal procedure lol

First, I will explain about corns.

[Corn Characteristics]

They mainly occur on the palms, fingers, soles of the feet, and toes, with a higher prevalence on the soles and toes.

There are soft corns and hard corns, with hard corns being more common. They are similar to calluses and are difficult to distinguish visually.

However, unlike calluses, it is smaller in size and feels painful when touched.

And the biggest difference from warts is that it is small and soft, but gradually becomes thick and large, with a thin center and roots in the lesion.

Causes of Corns

A corn is a condition where the skin is continuously subjected to mechanical irritation, causing keratin to build up and become embedded within the skin.

It generally occurs in people who walk a lot, with some experiencing severe pain and others going through their entire lives without any particular pain.

It means that the corn itself is unbalanced, so continuous pressure is applied to the area where the corn develops.

Therefore, correcting the way you walk is a good way to prevent recurrence.

I also went to the center afterward to measure my walking method and balance for correction^^

Corn treatment

There are two methods: hospital treatment (dermatology, orthopedics) and self-treatment. For small cases, self-treatment is recommended, but if the affected area is large or extensive, then...

We recommend hospital treatment~~

However, if you're unsure whether it's a corn, it's best to visit a hospital. If it's a wart and you attempt improper self-treatment, it could spread.

Because it makes treatment more difficult.

Day 1 of Self-Treatment for Corns

First, I was told it was a corn by the orthopedic department, and since it is small, I bought a corn band from the pharmacy, and in about a week,

Since you said it would disappear, I bought Shinshin wart patches at the pharmacy. But she mostly treated herself with Shinshin wart patches.

There are various types as well. Since it's my toes, I bought the appropriate size for toes.

The usage instructions are simply explained with easy-to-understand illustrations in the user manual.

Corn pad bandages come in pairs like this.

The area with corns is attached to the lesion site, and the part containing salicylic acid that will dissolve the corn is the central round area.

You need to carefully adjust the round area to fit the affected site.

After showering, I cleaned the affected area, dried it thoroughly, and then applied a bandage. The corn area has softened well and needs to be removed.

It is usually possible to attach it for 2 to 5 days. However, the toe part tends to come off easily, and it functions like a protective ring.

Since that part was pushed up and lifted, I added an extra layer with a regular band, but it couldn't last more than a day.ㅜ.ㅜ

You can see in this picture that the white protective part has been pushed up over the band...

Self-treatment of corns, days 2 to 3

On the second day, when I peeled it off, it didn't soften as much as I expected, so I applied this method again.

This is a photo of the corn area that was cut with a well-disinfected nail clipper on the third day.

If you look in the middle, there is a slightly small sunken area where the corn used to be.

4th day of self-treatment for corn

The pain has slightly decreased and the area seems almost gone, so I decided to try one more day and applied the bandage again.

5th day of self-treatment for corn

This is a much cleaner photo of the wart area. Therefore, the procedure was not continued and was concluded.

6th day of self-treatment for corn

The corn area has been neatly cleaned up. The surrounding skin is still peeled due to the corn band.

Actually, the skin around the corn area became smoother and more refined. Haha

My self-treatment for the corn has successfully ended like this~~

[My 3 Personal Corn Prevention Tips]

1. Weight management

Reducing the load on the soles of the feet is the most important.

Reducing the load prevents pressure from concentrating on a single area.

Before that, I used to walk about 20,000 steps a day and manage my weight, but it was a bit difficult to do that.

I am focusing on weight training mainly through diet therapy~~

I have reduced my meal portions by half and mainly eat fruits and vegetables, while also doing strength training about twice a week.

Additionally, I started cycling on weekends. Since it's not walking, the pain in my soles has disappeared, and I get exercise too.

It also greatly helps with weight management^^

2. Use of metatarsal pad

We are also using metatarsal pads to pay attention to the balance of pressure on the sole of the foot. The pain disappeared after wearing them.

Since there was no pain, the load was distributed toward the little toe.

It is kindly indicated on the left and right~~

It's a 모습 wearing socks as well. At first, every time I walked, I felt like there was something in the middle of my soles, and it was difficult for the first week.

It becomes more comfortable the longer I wear it~

3. Walking with the correct posture

Since walking greatly benefits health, I have been practicing walking with the correct posture for several months.

It has improved a lot, and my knees and joints are also better, so I don't feel any strain.

I hope everyone also refers to the walking guidelines and takes care of their health.

I have shared the process of self-treating my corns so far and the methods I am using to prevent corns.

I hope this will be of great help to you all, so I hope you view it positively ^^
