더운 여름철에는 너무 힘드시겠어요. 자외선 차단에 신경 많이 쓰셔야겠어요. 체질이 바뀌면 없던 알러지도 생기더라구요.
Concern) About prevention and treatment of sunlight allergy
I start to feel tense when the sunlight begins to get hot.
The reason is because of 'sun allergy'.
Starting from spring when the temperature begins to rise and the skin is exposed to some ultraviolet rays, the skin turns red and swells like hives. Then, pain and stress accompanied by itching and burning sensations begin.
This kind of sun allergy didn't develop when I was young; it suddenly appeared more than 10 years ago. I suddenly developed hives and found out that I have a sun allergy, which has been a skin condition I have been living with ever since.
Sunlight allergy symptoms
Basically, all skin exposed to sunlight can become affected areas, appearing on the arms, legs, neck, and anywhere else. In particular, the back of the neck is especially painful. When an allergy begins on the back of the neck, accompanied by itching and stinging, a different kind of pain occurs compared to other areas. In daily life, there are times when you suddenly become focused or nervous. When you become emotionally sensitive, a sharp, stabbing pain like being pricked with an awl can occur in the back of the neck.
Recently, the weather has been very cloudy, so I let my guard down on a Saturday morning walk and ended up with a sun allergy on my arms, the back of my hands, and my neck. As shown in the picture below, the skin on my neck, arms, and the back of my hands turned red and blistered, and hives started to appear. Then, it spread with itching and burning sensations. The allergy begins and the most intense itching occurs around days 3 to 4. Usually, it seems to improve after about a week, but in severe cases, blisters and bleeding can also occur.
I will also try to share some useful information about sunlight allergy, which I have been experiencing for over 10 years.
Sunlight allergy is prevention and treatment.
Of course, the best and most effective measure is to block ultraviolet rays as much as possible. It seems that sun allergy is generally difficult to cure completely. In severe cases, applying steroid ointments and taking medication are also options, but if this is repeated, the immune system may weaken, and eventually, these treatments may become ineffective.
So personally, I believe that the greatest treatment is prevention, and I am managing accordingly. Since the most important thing is UV protection, it is necessary to use not only sunscreen but also sun-blocking masks, arm sleeves, and parasols.
Since I enjoy exercising outdoors, there are times when I go out on hot days. In such cases, I go out fully equipped. A blocking mask, arm sleeves that cover the back of my hands, and a hat are essential. However, if I can't wear this full gear, I almost always develop an allergy.
In cases like this, I apply aloe vera. Aloe vera is good for soothing the skin, so I keep it in the refrigerator and apply it all over even if there is no allergy flare-up, especially on days when I have experienced heat. However, if the reaction is severe, using a pack or cold compress is more effective.
Recently, as the temperature has risen, many people may be experiencing sunlight allergies. It seems to sometimes occur suddenly due to changes in constitution, and there are also cases where it appears after a long period without sun exposure. The best way to deal with allergies is definitely to prevent them in advance. I hope you can reduce your suffering by properly protecting yourself from UV rays in daily life with sunscreen, parasols, hats, and other measures.
Take good care of your health during the hot summer!^^
