Toenail fungus

I have been suffering from toenail fungus for about twenty years. Initially, it started as a skin fungus, and since it wasn't severe at first, I didn't pay much attention to it. However, the fungus spread to my toenails, affecting my appearance, and I decided to seek medical advice. The doctor told me I couldn't take antifungal medication because of the medication I am currently on, so I am treating it with two topical ointments and nail polish. However, after five years, I haven't seen much improvement. Is there a better way to treat it?
