My heel wound hasn't healed in two months. Should I give up on walking 10,000 steps?
I am an exercise enthusiast who maintains my health by walking 10,000 steps every day.
About two months ago, I was so annoyed by the look of the calluses on my heels that I peeled them off with my hands, but I ended up making a deep cut at the border between the soft skin and the callus.
The problem is that because I walk 10,000 steps every day without resting for my health, the wounds keep opening and tearing again when they try to heal.
The wound was so deep that blood would seep through my socks after walking, but I didn't want to interrupt my exercise routine, so I just put on a bandage and kept walking.
But it's been over two months now and there's been no improvement and the pain is getting worse.
I haven't received medical treatment yet, but I'm worried about infection because this condition persists, and I'm afraid the wound will become chronic.
I don't want to stop walking, but is there a realistic alternative to treating this injury while exercising?
Specifically, I'm wondering if treatments like wet bandages or special dressings might help, or if changing your walking posture or shoe insoles might help relieve the pressure. Or is simply stopping walking for a few days until the wound heals completely the only solution?
If you have any management tips, recommended ointments, or treatments to help me overcome cracked heels and sore heels and walk comfortably again, I would really appreciate your advice.
Also, I have a question.
In addition to the scars, I am also concerned about the calluses that gradually grow back around the area.
I'm afraid that if I try to pull it off with my hands again like I did in the past, the same wounds will repeat themselves, so I can't even touch it.
I'm curious about an effective way to safely remove dead skin cells without irritation or to prevent them from turning into calluses in the first place.
Are there any moisturizers or foot care products that would be especially good for people like me who use their feet a lot every day?
If you have any practical tips for healing wounds and maintaining clean heels without stopping your walking, including how to use a wet bandage, please share them.
I look forward to your valuable reply.
