My itchiness seems to be getting worse even after taking medicine.

I'm going to the hospital because of my itchy skin, and even though I'm taking the prescribed medicine, it doesn't go away. I'm continuing to take the medicine because they said it could become chronic if I don't take it, but I'm worried about how long I have to take it, and on days when I forget to take the medicine, I feel a little itchy. Does anyone have symptoms like mine?
