After brushing my teeth or washing my face, if water or lotion touches my face, the area around my lips stings, tickles, peels, and turns red.
The dermatologist said it was exfoliative cheilitis.
I looked it up and found that there are three types of cheilitis.
Exfoliative cheilitis: pustular and scaly skin appears at the same time and the lips peel off
Contact cheilitis: caused by an allergic reaction to lip balm, toothpaste, or chemicals
Actinic cheilitis: Occurs when exposed to excessive sunlight during daily life.
In my case, at first, it was so swollen that I couldn't even see the wrinkles.
At its worst it's like this
As I take the medicine, the swelling goes down, the dead skin cells fall off, my lips become swollen, and pus and blisters (on the lower lip) appear.
This is a lot more subdued, but you can see the redness along the lip line. It's really hot.
But even if I take medicine, it only lasts for a short time... I think it's okay, but when it gets worse, the symptoms at that stage repeat againㅠㅠ
Ever since I was young, I have had a lot of dead skin cells on my lips and my lips crack easily.
I didn't pay much attention to it because it happens all the time when I'm tired, but it got worse this year because I had skin allergies due to new house syndrome.
I searched online and it said to apply Vaseline and Bepanthen, so I tried that and the dead skin cells went away, but the stinging sensation didn't go away.
I think a fundamental solution is needed, but is there no way to cure cheilitis?
