Skin cyst treatment (procedure, surgery) review (disturbing image)
Timing of skin cyst surgery: June 2018
② Skin cyst surgery location: Seoul Hospital, Songpa-gu, Seoul
③ Symptoms after skin cyst surgery: There were no particular symptoms, but it was a major inconvenience not to touch water.
In my case, a skin cyst appeared on my earlobe in June 2018. At first, it felt like a small bump. Visually, my ear looked a bit swollen, and I thought it would go away quickly. However, after about two weeks, it became very painful to touch, and the earlobe swelled up, appearing about twice as large as before.
At first, I didn't know anything and went to a dermatologist, but I was told it looked like a skin cyst and was advised to go to the surgery department, so I went to a nearby medium-sized hospital. A skin cyst is a lump (pouch) caused by blocked pores due to excessive sebum secretion, and it is also said to have a genetic factor. My father also had a skin cyst removed from his ear around my age. After a simple medical interview, it was confirmed to be a skin cyst, and the surgery was scheduled for one week later, along with medication. I received a 7-day course of oral medication and Eiroban ointment.
The highly anticipated day of surgery has arrived, and compared to the trembling nerves I had before, it ended quite uneventfully. First, anesthesia was administered around the surgical site, and after 10 minutes, the surgery proceeded. The anesthesia injection was the most painful among all the injections I have received, to the point where I can confidently say so. The surgery lasted about 10 minutes, and the doctor personally showed me the cyst capsule that was removed. Fortunately, the size of the skin cyst was not large, so the doctor was able to remove the entire sac without damaging the surrounding tissue. Since even minor surgeries are still surgeries, the surgical site was stitched up with two stitches, and I received medication to take afterward before going home.
I took medication and disinfected for a week, and since the surgical site is on the ear, washing my hair for a week was quite difficult. I was worried that water might get into the surgical area and cause inflammation, but I managed to get through it fairly well and went to the hospital to have the stitches removed.
