It's been about 15 years since I got a crown on my molar.
In the meantime, the gum around the molar has receded, exposing part of the tooth beneath the crown.
I think I heard that crowns need to be redone roughly every ten years, but when I went for a cleaning last year, they didn't mention anything about it.
I asked if there was anything uncomfortable, and when they said no, I only did scaling.
I'm wondering if I should ask when I go for scaling this year, since they probably checked everything during the scaling and found nothing unusual, so maybe there's no need to ask, but I also think I might as well ask just in case.
It's understandable that re-crowning can feel burdensome.
Still, I think I should do it again if necessary.
In the past, I used gold alloy crowns.
These days, there are also zirconia crowns, which are tooth-colored crowns.
It is described as being highly intense and good. Has anyone tried it?
Has anyone else had a crown placed a long time ago, so their tooth is exposed, and had to get the crown redone?
