Singer Kang Su-ji (57) recently introduced salt bread as her favorite new food.

 

On the 4th, the YouTube channel 'Kang Su-ji TV Living, Loving, Acting' uploaded a video titled 'A House Where Salt Bread Is Truly Delicious, Please Drop By!' In the video, Kang Su-ji visited a bakery she often goes to. She said, "I wasn't really someone who preferred this salt bread," and "But after trying the salt bread here, the texture was so chewy and different from what I had imagined salt bread to be."

 

She continued, "My stomach hasn't been feeling well, so I mainly buy and eat bread made with natural fermentation starter, and this place also uses natural fermentation starter," and "I was so happy to try it because it was really delicious." Later, Kang Su-ji, while eating salt bread, expressed her admiration by saying, "It's delicious." Is it okay for Kang Su-ji, who recently started liking salt bread, to eat a lot of it?

Salt bread is a type of bread made with butter and salt in the dough, combining the rich flavor of butter with the salty taste of salt to create a uniquely addictive flavor. 

 

However, since it is literally made with 'salt' as the main ingredient, it is best to avoid excessive consumption. Typically, making salt bread (4-6 pieces) with common recipes contains about 5 grams of salt. Depending on the product or type, the sodium content in 5 grams of salt is usually around 2000 mg. This is the same as the World Health Organization (WHO) daily recommended sodium intake.

 

Eating just one salt bread does not exceed the recommended intake. The problem is that eating multiple salt breads as a meal replacement or consuming a variety of foods throughout the day outside of salt bread can easily surpass the recommended amount. Excessive sodium intake can increase blood volume and raise blood pressure, leading to hypertension. Additionally, it raises inflammation levels in the body. Increased inflammation can spread throughout the body via the bloodstream, interfering with insulin function and increasing the risk of metabolic diseases such as diabetes. Therefore, rather than eating excessively because it tastes good, it is better to limit intake.

 

Meanwhile, Kang Su-ji's natural fermented bread is bread that uses little to no additives such as butter or sugar. The natural yeast used in natural fermented bread converts gluten in the flour into biotin, making it easier to digest for people with digestion issues. The starter culture for natural yeast fermentation uses grains, fruits, or vegetables that contain natural sugars.
