Turmeric, the main ingredient in curry, has numerous health benefits. Long used as a medicinal herb in India and other countries, turmeric is what gives curry its yellow color and rich flavor. Research supporting these diverse health benefits is steadily emerging.

According to the American portal site "Yahoo! Life," tea made with turmeric has health benefits. Turmeric tea, made by pouring hot water over fresh turmeric root or dried turmeric powder, contains curcumin, a health-promoting compound found in turmeric.

Health Benefits of Turmeric Tea

 

The first is to boost immunity. Cumin is a polyphenol with powerful antioxidant properties that scavenges harmful free radicals. This protects the body from oxidative stress, which is linked to many diseases, including immune dysfunction, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease.

 

Curcumin's positive effects on the immune system go beyond simply preventing common colds. By boosting immunity, it can also contribute to preventing and treating cancer.


Second, anti-inflammatory effect Curcumin in turmeric is also an anti-inflammatory compound. Because of this, turmeric tea can help prevent a variety of inflammation-related conditions, including allergies, psoriasis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, arthritis, and even Alzheimer's disease.

 

 

Third, it has pain relief and mood-elevating effects. Curcumin also has benefits for healthy individuals. One study in subjects without pre-existing conditions found that curcumin alleviated muscle pain. Another study found that curcumin's anti-inflammatory effects positively impacted mood, attention, and working memory in healthy individuals.

In addition to these effects, research has shown that turmeric suppresses fat accumulation and prevents weight gain. In addition to the aforementioned benefits of turmeric, another new benefit has been confirmed.

 

To observe the effects of turmeric on weight, a research team at Tufts University in the United States gave one group of mice only high-fat food, while the other group ate 500 mg of turmeric's curcumin along with high-fat food.

After 12 weeks, the mice that had been fed curcumin together did not gain much weight and their blood cholesterol levels did not increase even though they were eating a high-fat diet.

 

Regarding this phenomenon, the research team explained, “When you eat high-fat foods, new blood vessels are formed, fat tissue expands, and weight increases,” and “In mice that ate curcumin, the formation of new blood vessels was reduced, suppressing fat accumulation.”
