Many people eat fruit daily for their health. Indeed, fruit contains a variety of nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin E, and flavonoids. However, eating it after a meal can actually raise blood sugar levels, potentially harming your health. Why is that?

◇Risk of causing diabetes, obesity, etc.

Eating fruit after a meal causes a rapid rise in blood sugar, putting a strain on the pancreas and increasing the risk of diabetes. The pancreas secretes insulin when food enters the body. Insulin absorbs blood glucose into cells, converting it into energy and converting the remaining sugar into fat, returning blood sugar levels to pre-meal levels. It takes about two hours for blood sugar levels to return to pre-meal levels, but if fruit is consumed immediately after a meal, the pancreas must secrete insulin again. This repeated overload of the pancreas increases the risk of diabetes.

It can also easily lead to obesity. Consuming large amounts of fruit after a meal can cause a rapid spike in blood sugar levels, stimulating the pancreas to secrete more insulin. Furthermore, it can promote fat synthesis in the body, increasing blood lipids and body fat. In particular, fructose, found abundantly in fruit, is absorbed more quickly than glucose, so excessive consumption can easily lead to fat accumulation in the liver.

◇Should be taken 3-4 hours after a meal

Therefore, it's best to eat fruit an hour before a meal or three to four hours afterward. Eating fruit an hour before a meal increases nutrient absorption. It also reduces food intake due to a feeling of fullness, which can help with weight loss. If you want to eat after a meal, wait three to four hours before eating. This is the time when blood sugar levels return to pre-meal levels and the pancreas can safely release insulin again. When choosing fruit, checking its glycemic index (GI) is also a good idea. The glycemic index (GI) is a numerical value that measures how much blood sugar rises after eating a food. A GI of 70 or higher is considered high-glycemic, 56 to 69 is considered medium-glycemic, and 55 or less is considered low-glycemic.

============

Fruits are eaten before meals

It's not 30 minutes after eating

I thought it was 30 minutes after eating

It's good to eat after 3-4 hours.

Then it would be almost between meals.

I heard you can't even eat fruit properly because of blood sugar management.
