Review of my visit to the hospital for hypothyroidism treatment
While working, I was diagnosed with chickenpox and received hospital treatment. The dermatologist noticed my swollen neck and suspected hypothyroidism, so I was referred to an endocrinologist. Since then, I have been taking medication continuously.
While working and living in a group setting, I contracted chickenpox after being in contact with someone infected. Since my immune system was already at its lowest, I couldn't fight the virus and kept getting sick. Adult chickenpox is very painful. I went to a large hospital dermatology clinic, and the dermatologist looked at my neck and suggested I also see an endocrinologist, as they suspected hypothyroidism. After seeing an endocrinologist, I was told that my fatigue, low stamina, lack of energy, and drowsiness seemed to be symptoms of hypothyroidism. They recommended blood tests and an ultrasound, and on that very day, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was also told I would need to take medication for hypothyroidism for the rest of my life. They reassured me that hypothyroidism wouldn't cause major problems in daily life, so I shouldn't worry, and I now have an ultrasound once a year and regular visits.
There are no major inconveniences in daily life, but I have to continue taking hormone medication for life and constantly manage hypothyroidism, which makes me very upset. Going to the hospital every time is also a hassle. And it's not easy to take the hormone medication used for hypothyroidism an hour before fasting.
