Anemia is simply a deficiency of red blood cells in the body. It can be prevented by regularly eating iron-rich foods. If you do not eat meat at all, you may develop anemia due to iron deficiency. Iron is mainly obtained through foods rich in protein. Iron from animal proteins is absorbed about three times better than from plant sources. Typical foods include red meat, liver, egg yolks, oysters, milk, dairy products, tofu, soy milk, green vegetables, and seaweed.

Fresh vegetables and fruits contain a lot of vitamin C, which helps with iron absorption. Eggs are a complete food rich in various nutrients but do not contain vitamin C. Vitamin B12 and folate, which are necessary for blood production in the bone marrow, are also good nutrients for anemia. Vitamin C is easily destroyed during cooking, so it is better to eat it raw. Spinach, lotus root, and parsley contain not only iron but also a lot of vitamin C, making them good for iron deficiency anemia. Vitamin B12 can be obtained from animal-based foods. Folate is abundant in spinach, salmon, and peanuts.

Some people absorb nutrients within 30 minutes, but waiting about an hour is safer. Coffee has many advantages, but also some disadvantages. This is why it is recommended to avoid coffee when taking medication.
