Diagnosed with hyperlipidemia 10 years ago, currently on medication and managing lifestyle and dietary habits.

Looking at my health checkup records, it's already been over ten years since I was diagnosed with hyperlipidemia. I regularly undergo checkups as part of my job and receive the results, but I have never felt any abnormalities in my body. These days, if the test results are poor, they are clearly highlighted, but perhaps in the past, they weren't, and I don't understand why I paid no attention and just overlooked it. It seems that in the past, I didn't consider hyperlipidemia as a disease.

It has been about 4 to 5 years since I started taking medication for high cholesterol.

This is my total cholesterol level change chart.

High cholesterol is also important in terms of total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglyceride levels.

Initially, when I received a prescription at the hospital, they prescribed a high dose of cholesterol medication because my levels were elevated.

The HDL and triglyceride levels were not bad even before taking medication.

While taking medication, I tried to reduce flour-based foods and greasy foods. I didn't even know the word "hyperlipidemia" before, but looking back at my eating habits, I realize I was eating all the foods that could cause illness—fried foods, snacks, bread, processed foods—whenever I wanted.

Currently, I haven't completely stopped taking cholesterol-lowering medication and wheat-based foods, but I have reduced them by more than 50%, and I am also eating multigrain rice, vegetables, and taking omega-3 supplements.

I have been taking medication for about a year now, and my cholesterol levels are well controlled, so I have reduced the dosage by half.

It seems that not only hyperlipidemia but also vascular diseases like diabetes are coming together. About a year ago, I also started to pay attention to my diabetes levels.

Both conditions involve unhealthy blood, so vascular management is important.

I'm wondering if it's possible to completely stop taking the medication since I have reduced the dosage by half. I also tried to control my cholesterol by stopping the medication for about three months and managing it through exercise and diet, but I couldn't resist the temptation of food and ate whatever I wanted from time to time, so my levels gradually increased again, and I had to get a new prescription.

The doctor also said that he has hyperlipidemia himself and that exercise has to be really difficult to be effective, so it seems difficult to do it on his own. I'm just planning to properly maintain the three things: medication, diet, and exercise, as they are now.
