When asked to think of their partner, individuals with romantic partners also showed lower blood pressure, although not as low as those who were actually with their partner. This study measured instantaneous blood pressure, which differs from hypertension, but it revealed a pattern consistent with the idea that close relationships with intimate partners and close family members can improve health outcomes.
