Diabetes is usually said to have a strong genetic predisposition, but my parents-in-law do not have diabetes.
And recently, my dad started taking diabetes medication, and my mom is also in the pre-diabetes stage.
We have health checkups together every year. My husband's HbA1c was 6.7 in 2020 and 5.9 in 2021. Last summer, he was 173 cm tall and weighed around 74-75 kg, which made us worried, but it increased to 7.2.
They gave me two months and said if I didn't drop, I should start diabetes medication, but I worked hard for two months and lowered it back to 5.9. I lost up to 69 kg doing aerobic exercise during those two months. They suggested doing strength training, so I have been receiving one-on-one personal training since December. My weight is around 72 to 73 kg. I also asked to do a mid-term check before the health check-up in August, but they absolutely refused. It seems that managing diabetes requires not only dietary control but also lifelong dieting and lifestyle changes.
