(Hot Tip for Burn Treatment) My experience treating a burn without medication during an overseas trip
We went on a family trip to Saipan for the first time in 10 years.
It was our first family trip and an overseas journey, so we received travel assistance from Takafe and prepared as much as possible, but...
I think I didn't prepare as well as I should have for the most important medication.
It's just a lack of experience.
I took all the medicine, but I couldn't think at all.
It was a burn prevention measure.
On the second day of the trip, her child's face turned red and flushed, and by the morning of the third day, her face started to swell up as if stung by a bee.
My entire ear was swollen, and since we hadn't prepared burn ointment, we didn't know what to do.
I asked the accommodation staff, and they said there is no burn ointment.
Because the child loves playing in the water so much, we played all day without rest, and the weather was also very nice...
Even in that state, the child wanted to play, so they tried to go into the water, but now just touching the water makes their face flush, and they couldn't play at all.
You know that going to the hospital abroad is difficult and very expensive, right?
So I looked it up on Naver and found that Fucidin is also okay, so I tried applying Fucidin for now. That's the only ointment I have... However, the next day, it swelled up more.
So I asked the travel cafe community for help. I asked to borrow some ointment... but there was no one staying at our accommodation.
Others gave tips instead.
Apply plenty of aloe gel!
Where can I buy aloe vera right now? I heard it's available downtown, but it's nighttime now and many stores are closed... I checked the underground shop at my accommodation first, and I found some there.
This is the aloe vera gel I bought at the store at that time.
I think I used about half.^^
I kept it in the refrigerator and applied it generously and frequently. Since it contains alcohol, the child said it stings and feels hot, so I kept fanning them while applying it.
The photo shows the child's face, which had swollen up from applying aloe vera gel frequently, has improved a bit but is still swollen. Going to Managa Island for snorkeling was the highlight of the Saipan trip, and since it was booked, we went, but the child was crying because the seawater felt stingy and hot, so we had no choice but to give up the snorkeling we were most looking forward to.
Fortunately, I had a mass-produced Tummy Tube, so I was able to show the fish like in the picture.
Are you fully armed?^^ Actually, I was able to see the fish more clearly than snorkeling.
Since then, I continued to apply aloe gel regularly, and fortunately, it gradually improved. The burning sensation disappeared even when in water, so the child was able to swim until the last day of the trip. The face was still somewhat swollen, though...
This is the burn ointment I received when I went to the hospital after returning from a trip. LidoMex is something I specifically requested a prescription for.
But clearly, you hardly used the burn ointment, right?
It's because I applied more aloe gel.
The doctor kept telling me to apply aloe vera frequently because it's good. They said it was really good that I kept applying aloe vera.
Thanks to aloe gel, we were able to enjoy playing in the water at the swimming pool until the very end.
We were able to handle the urgent burn situation well without going to an expensive hospital abroad.
For those of us who have no experience traveling abroad like us, when going to a hot country, there are parts you might not be able to prepare for properly!!!! I really wanted to mention this.
Even though I studied everything before going on the trip, I still missed some parts.
However, after reading the travel cafe posts, I realized there are more people like us than I thought. The posts about urgently looking for ointments... lol
Don't panic and just handle it like we do.
Here's a helpful tip! I wanted to share it, so I wrote a long message.
I hope there are people who can truly help.
I will definitely bring plenty of aloe gel on my next trip. Haha
