Is it possible for the HbA1c to remain the same even with diligent management? I'm feeling discouraged..
I was unaware of diabetes, but after a glycated hemoglobin test, my result was 5.6.
The doctor told me that I am at the normal end point, so I reduced carbohydrates and exercised, and I also made a big decision and managed my health diligently.
I usually didn't eat breakfast, but I started eating nuts and soy milk. For lunch, I had half a bowl of multigrain rice with leafy vegetables and seasoned greens, mainly tofu, egg whites, and mackerel for protein. I ate the same for dinner. I also followed the proper eating order strictly. I used to drink alcohol 3-4 times a week, but I decided to quit drinking completely. I didn't do any exercise at all, but I tried to walk at least 10,000 steps a day after lunch and dinner, and in November, there were days I walked as many as 16,000 steps.
I only occasionally ate a piece of apple as fruit and did not have any snacks.
I went to hear the results today, and my HbA1c is still 5.6...
It's not a bad number, but I no longer have a sense of what to do or how to proceed.. Since I haven't had my period, I think I need to increase carbohydrates and gain weight, but the doctor told me to maintain this lifestyle..
Honestly, since the test results are the same as when I was just living my life, I feel like things have actually gotten worse.
Is this even possible...? I managed my blood sugar levels so carefully that the HbA1c didn't drop... It's upsetting.
I'm thinking about getting another test at a different hospital tomorrow.. Why isn't my HbA1c level decreasing?
