그정도면 유전이라.. 약이 제일 좋을 거 같긴해요 고혈압은 무조건 유전이라 하더라구요ㅠㅠ
What should I do if my blood pressure doesn't go down even with diet and exercise?
I had a health checkup this September, and my blood pressure was found to be high.
I didn't know my blood pressure would be this high either. I was so shocked.
The test results I received by email...
The hospital said that rather than prescribing medication right away, we should first try managing our lifestyle and then come back for a re-examination in three months.
So I worked really hard on it for three months.
And I got checked again earlier this month, and oh my... the numbers were almost the same ㅠㅠ
Even these days, when I measure my blood pressure, the results are similar.
The numbers have gone down a little, but they are still not within the normal range... My blood pressure numbers are fluctuating.
The method I have used so far is
1 Home training
2 Health PT (I'm an office worker, so even though I want to do it a lot, I can only do it twice a week...)
3. Indoor cycling exercise 3-5 times a week when you don't exercise
4. 1 hour of outdoor running and walking on a day when it's not cold
5 Diet Control
I took care of myself very thoroughly, to the point that people around me said I was really diligent in managing myself.
In particular, I worked really hard to control my diet.
But my blood pressure didn't go down as much as I expected, and only my weight went down... I'm not overweight either.
The hospital said that weight is not the problem, and that if diet and exercise don't help, then family history seems to be a big factor.
Actually, one of my parents is already taking medication for high cholesterol, and the other one doesn't take medication but has high blood pressure.
The doctor said I was too young to be taking medication, that blood pressure doesn't go down this quickly, and that since my numbers had gone down a little bit compared to before, he should stop taking medication for now and just monitor me for about 3 more months while managing my blood pressure like I was doing now.
However, if the numbers are similar or higher in the next checkup, then they said to consider taking medication.
He said that I should manage my stress well, but for me, the biggest stress is not anything else but blood pressure.
I'm dieting, exercising, and my weight is normal, but if my blood pressure doesn't go down even after managing it to this extent, what else can I do?
Is there any other management method I am missing?
Or maybe I'm just wondering if medication is really the answer in this case.
The very thought that I might need to take blood pressure medication at such a young age can be stressful.
On the other hand, I'm also worried that if I hold on for no reason, things might get worse.
I'm curious if there are people like me who tried really hard to manage their diet and exercise but their blood pressure didn't go down very well!!
